mondoricho My goodness, this is an incredible piece of work. Favorite track: In Lucem.

Logan 5 /The Metamorph Absolutely exquisite. Atmospheric, ethereal, emotional and memorable. I get the same listening experience as I have with "Phaedra" or side two of "Heroes", and that's saying something.
Timeless, beautiful music - cannot recommend it highly enough. Favorite track: In Lucem.
Letters From Mouse
Letters From Mouse thumbnail
Letters From Mouse Beautifully crafted contemplative album that is a bit more chilled than Giant's previous releases. Repeat plays of this and previous works confirms the skill in producing music like this and each release has been it's own journey. I do think this is my favourite album to date from Giants, it's one for switching out the lights and immersing yourself in atmosphere. A must buy in my book. LFMx

DJ SpaceTerrapin The beautiful, overwhelming album is one of the highlights of this fall. Awe inspiring, with a huge breathing space, like an illuminated acoustic cathedral, the sound coming and going in waves (e.g. "In Lucem"). Headphones recommended! Favorite track: In Lucem.

about

This is the third Giants of Discovery album and my first on Woodford Halse (big thanks to Mat!). The original inspiration behind most of the tracks on this album was the incredible paintings by French artist, Jean-Pierre Ugarte. His depiction of these impossibly gigantic, Brutalist, edifices really caught my imagination. I began to imagine these colossal structures at the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean, forming part of a sunken city belonging to a long-forgotten civilisation, possibly alien in origin, waiting silently to be re-discovered and reveal its secrets or relay a message to the world.

The track 52Hz however comes from a different source but fits within the overall narrative. 52Hz is actually the name given to a whale which scientists believe has been travelling the oceans alone for decades searching in vain for a female. He's been unable to find a mate because his mating call only goes down to 52Hz, which is still not low enough to attract a female. As a result he's been swimming the oceans alone for all this time. I find that incredibly sad and really resonated with me. So I imagined him on his travels eventually stumbling upon these constructions that have been hidden from humanity for millennia.

I originally hoped I could have used one of Jean-Pierre Ugarte's paintings for the album cover but he proved to be an impossible man to contact! I therefore went with a design that incorporated three giant Titans that are part of the Man Meets The Sea art piece by Svend Wiig Hansen that can be found on the shoreline at Esjberg in Denmark. The motif of contemplation as they stare out across the vastness of the ocean resonates with both my original concept and the music on this album.

As ever I am very grateful whenever anyone takes the time to listen to, or purchase, my music, it really is appreciated. These are very difficult times we are all living through and I therefore want to wish you all good health and fortune.
